New Home Construction and a Geothermal System go Hand-in-hand

04/08/2011

Settling for Second-Best in Your New Home's Heating and Cooling?

Designing and building your own home is part of the American Dream for many Baltimore residents. You have the power to decide exactly what will be included and choose the options you've always desired. One area that is often taken for granted is the Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. The HVAC system will easily have the biggest impact on your monthly budget and day-to-day comfort, yet is often an afterthought.

Geothermal systems deliver amazing savings that will allow you to re-invest the money you save back into your home. Imagine being able to afford that upgraded countertop or dream bathroom thanks to lower monthly bills. Why not start with the most efficient and lowest operating cost solution available on the market today?

While the initial cost for a geothermal system is higher than ordinary gas or electric heating and cooling options, no other system provides the monthly savings that a geothermal offers. Additionally, there are many government and utility incentives that make geothermal a very competitive option.

Until December 31, 2016, when you install one of our WaterFurnace geothermal systems at your primary, second home, or even business you will qualify for a 30% homeowner (10% for commercial installations) tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Geothermal units installed before January 1, 2009 are subject to a cap of $2,000 - those in service after this date have not cap. This means that one third of the cost of your geothermal system is paid for! So not only does installing a geothermal system in your new home provide inherent value to your home, it can also provide a great tax return as well.

Check the IRS newsroom article for more information on the proper forms and specific details in order to qualify.
